About the Tournament

The DMV Champion Cup is the premier regional soccer tournament serving the greater Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. Bringing together the best clubs from across the DMV, the tournament features competitive play across six divisions spanning adult and youth categories.

Teams compete in a group stage format followed by knockout rounds, culminating in championship finals at top-tier venues across the region. The tournament is sanctioned by the regional soccer federation and follows all official rules of play.

Tournament Format

Group Stage

Teams are divided into groups and play a round-robin format. Points are awarded: 3 for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss. Top teams from each group advance to the knockout rounds.

Knockout Rounds

Single-elimination bracket. Semifinals determine the two finalists. In the event of a draw after 90 minutes, matches proceed to penalty shootout.

Championship Final

The two remaining teams compete for the division championship title. Finals are held at premier venues with full spectator access.

Adult

Open Adult Men

Open to all adult male players 18 and over. Highest level of competition in the tournament.

Adult

Open Adult Women

Open to all adult female players 18 and over. Competitive division with top regional clubs.

U18

Under 18 Boys

Players born on or after the cutoff date for the U18 age group. High-intensity youth competition.

U18

Under 18 Girls

Players born on or after the cutoff date for the U18 age group. Showcasing the region's top female youth talent.

U15

Under 15 Boys

Players born on or after the cutoff date for the U15 age group. Developmental and competitive play.

U15

Under 15 Girls

Players born on or after the cutoff date for the U15 age group. Developmental and competitive play.

Rules & Regulations

  1. 1All matches are played under FIFA Laws of the Game.
  2. 2Match duration: 2 × 45-minute halves for adult divisions; 2 × 35-minute halves for U18 and U15.
  3. 3Each team may register a maximum of 22 players per squad.
  4. 4A minimum of 7 players must be present to start a match. Failure to field 7 players results in a forfeit.
  5. 5Yellow cards accumulate across the tournament. Two yellow cards in separate matches result in a one-match suspension.
  6. 6A straight red card results in an automatic one-match suspension, subject to review.
  7. 7Protests must be submitted in writing within 30 minutes of the final whistle.
  8. 8All players must carry valid photo ID and proof of age eligibility at every match.
